Much better than our current Takeya brew pot. I gave up the idea of a brew jar due to issues with Takeya, which has large, long open areas for the fruit's pulp and seeds to pass through and create a mess in the water. This Primula has several options and reading the manual is very important. As I explain what it does, I'll talk about some "must haves". Primula Flavor can flavor water, brew tea, herbal infusions or alcoholic beverages (cocktails). There is a "cooling core" which is a sealed gel insert to allow you to store the pitcher outside of the fridge (e.g. at a party) and keep drinks cold without ice (particularly desirable for some cocktails). As for the brew, the genius here is that the holes are covered with a fine mesh, so no pulp or seeds can get into the drink. For some types of beverages, you can use a tamper. Stirring: The use of a stir stick to extract juice and flavor from cooked fruit before adding liquid. All spoiled fruits must be removed from the water within 10 minutes, otherwise they will become bitter. In other places it says to do a maximum of 7 minutes and remove all the skins. Hard fruits should not be blended, but first ground in a blender or food processor and then placed in the blender infuser. Grinding: Grinding herbs by pressing them with a pestle. Warns us not to chop too much, which will result in a bitter taste, gently mash the herbs with a grater. Instant infusion: Add mashed fruit to the liquid and pump up and down with a grating stick. Examples: cucumber water, lemon water, iced tea brewed with lemon. Infusion in alcohol: it is recommended to leave it for 7 minutes to get the full flavor and then remove it, otherwise it will become bitter. Examples: mojito mint and grapefruit margarita. The instructions are a bit confusing e.g. say let stand no more than 7 minutes, then say cover the cloudy fruit with a lid, add liquid, pump with a grater stick, add the lid and enjoy. There he does not remind us to remove the fruit after 7-10 minutes. You have the choice between the brewing insert or the cooling insert, it does not accept either. The Primula website has 100 recipes for ideas on what kind of glass to make. Capacity 2.7 liters / 2.5 liters. The jug is intended for installation in the refrigerator door. Depending on the depth of your door, it can be on the side or lengthwise. Cleaning is a bit cumbersome due to the mesh with pulp and puree. It's worth looking into if you want mixed herbs or fruit. This gives a better mess effect with a tea stick than trying to use a large metal tea ball for tea leaves or an inferior quality infuser like the Takeya I bought. I rate it 5 stars = I love it
