As others have said, once assembled this lamp doesn't look like the picture. The top is not horizontal, it slopes down. If you want it to look like the picture you will need to support something under the base to tilt the base to balance. This will warp the vertical plane and tilt it so that the top is level horizontally - it's a losing situation. I would only recommend this lamp if you can "hide" the base under one side of a sofa or behind a chair, as long as you don't mind the vertical part of it tilting a bit rather than straight up and down.
