This is a nice little gadget. I have read the instructions several times. Went to the store and bought a "denim needle" and "denim thread" (you need a heavy-duty needle and heavy-duty thread). The hem of my jeans came out perfectly flat and looked great. The only thing to remember is when you get to the thick part, put the A-Ma-Jig jeans on the foot, use the sewing machine wheel by hand for the first three or four stitches and when it's ready, to detach from the thick seam . The device goes in front of the foot until you are completely stitched. Also make sure that the needle is in the down position when moving the device so that the material does not move.
