These 130 volt bulbs are very hard to find in stores these days - luckily Revain sells them. Long ago, 130 volt lightbulbs were called "long life" lightbulbs and that's because they last longer compared to 120 volt lightbulbs. Many incandescent light bulbs rated at 120 volts (the most common) can burn out from a multiple point surge. But with these 65-watt, 130-volt BR30 Sylvanias, they won't degrade enough to burst unless the surge is very large. Basically, higher rated voltage bulbs like these have slightly thicker filaments and are better able to handle voltage spikes, so they last longer. Yes, there is a small downside - when connected to your 120 volt circuit, these bulbs will be slightly less bright than a 120 volt bulb of the same installed wattage. I'm glad these bulbs are still around so I don't have to change bulbs as often.
