Very reliable. One issue: The ball that holds the clip to the mount/main unit started to sag a bit. Nothing special. I removed the clamp, tightened the ball assembly with an allen wrench and put a small piece of tape on the ball itself. Put it back together and it's tight as it should stay. I also use a rectangular piece of plastic shield to hold in my lap. See photos of the base. The stability is greatly increased by the plastic part of the badge.
