Review on ๐Ÿงฅ Gopune Men's Softshell Hiking Jacket - Fleece Lined, Waterproof, Lightweight Hooded Coat by Flavio Scarola

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A month has passed. So far mostly good.

Overall a good jacket for the money. I've tried MANY soft shell jackets and it ticks a lot. Here are the pros and cons as I see them. ADVANTAGES: 1- Sufficiently waterproof. DWR (Water Resistant Coating) works, but I would recommend a different coating. If you're buying softshells, you probably know you're going to be swapping out waterproof Gore-Tex fabric or something similar for better breathability. Works great when you're not out in the rain. Especially if you burn energy. You might sweat a little, you might get a little wet from the rain. But it dries quickly. 2- Warm enough. Finely brushed fleece lining, including hood and sleeves. Gentle on the skin but difficult to put on and take off over a long-sleeved shirt. Wear a layer below 35F. I wouldn't wear it above 60F. 3. The hood works well. Good size if you don't wear a helmet. Not baggy. The laces allow you to tighten it to protect it from wind and rain. It doesn't come off which is a plus. No leaking zipper, no extra collar. Fits snugly around the chin to keep you warm and dry. 4- Attractive. Sporty look, but not too flashy. The reflective strips are nice to the touch but aren't big enough to be noticeable during the day. Khaki/Navy look very good. Probably one of the nicest soft shells on Revain.5. Price. Half the price of a Columbia Ascender but with a better hood. A quarter the cost of North Face Apex. On the same level as the properties. CONS: 1. The first thing you will notice is that the zipper puller is on the wrong side. Not because it's a women's jacket. It's just not made for the US market. That takes some getting used to. 2- The chest pocket has such a small zipper hidden in the fabric with a tiny pull that it is difficult to use. And the seams are not very good. I actually returned one jacket because the zipper got stuck and the seams came undone after a few moderate pulls. The second jacket's chest pocket zipper didn't stick, but the stitching wasn't any better either. I'll just try not to use it unless it's necessary. That's all! These are my impressions after a few weeks of use. It was a wet January in Ohio with extreme temperature swings from the low teens to the mid 60's so I think this is a versatile jacket.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • I don't really like anything, everything is fine
