I've tried some callus removers. To my surprise, they work very well. I was afraid they might be too aggressive, like picking up a random orbital sander, but that's not the case. They work quickly, about 30 seconds per foot. For me, they were the solution to cracked skin around my heels and calluses that had resisted other treatments for decades. Bottom line, these gadgets are a really valuable innovation. This particular model has a metal lid that attaches with magnets. Presumably it's for nails as it has a slot to put your nail through. I found the grinder too aggressive for nails, but the lid has the unheralded benefit of covering the grinding surface so it doesn't scratch or snag other items in the drawer. On another model I tested, dusting the leather was a bit of a hassle, so I just patted the unit in the bin after use and then gave it a more thorough cleaning less often. Charging is done with a standard micro USB cable that comes in the kit. The control is a kill switch, so the motor will automatically shut off when you let go of it. This model only comes with two sanding heads, but I found the third, extra-coarse sanding head to be too aggressive on other sanders, so two heads are plenty. At current prices, this model is about $10 more expensive than another I've tested and performs almost identically, so I'd recommend buying it for the price.
