I am by no means an experienced electrician as I am sure most buyers of this product are not. Typically, the lights you install in your home come with instructions and a wiring harness so you can connect and use your product quickly and easily. Be careful, this product does not. I was considering returning this item as I didn't want to risk installing this item incorrectly and damaging the item or my home. Luckily, I plucked up the courage and decided to give it a try. The wire connectors inside are a sort of simple clip system. Wire nuts are not required. This is a great feature if you know what you're looking at. Again, there are no instructions with this product. From this simple connection system there are 3 wires on the back that are connected to the light. These 3 wires are of course hot, neutral and ground. However, the cable colors are red, blue and green. The typical color scheme of the house is black, white and copper. Again, there are no instructions to tell you what's what on the product. After some research on the internet I felt confident enough to conclude that red is hot, blue is neutral and green is earth. In my case, I installed this light where there was a wired fire alarm. Considering this is a smart light used via Google/Alexa a light switch isn't really required and could be an issue if the light is accidentally turned off. I also decided to reuse the wire harness that came with the smoke alarm by disconnecting the wires from the wire harness connector, which worked great. These wires are smaller than regular household wire, but I can't tell you what size they are. Once you have everything plugged in and secured to the ceiling with the included screws, it looks and works great! Connected to my wifi via their app as intended. I have no complaints about the product itself, but the lack of instructions is really frustrating. I'm sure more people will be returning this product for this reason. This alone deserves 3 stars.
