Still figuring it out but first ride went well

I just got this and drove for 4 hours (each direction) which gave me a better idea of what I like and don't like at the moment. When I have more experience with this I will come back and update if there is anything worth mentioning. First, the instructions suck. You have to download a 20+ page manual and even then it's not entirely clear due to the many confusing translations. I think I've got everything set correctly, but I plan to sit down (AGAIN) to the manual soon and see if I've missed anything. I'm guessing this comes with its own SD card. This saves me having to search for one in my electronics box, and it was already formatted for the camera. The small setup guide that comes with this device contains information on where to find the manual to refer to so you can update your GPS information, which helps with hidden police and traffic light camera detection. I suggest that you download the update to your computer and then put it in a folder on your SD card and update from there. I tried to do it from the website and it stopped halfway. The camera only had a 24-hour clock. So unless you've lived with it in the past, knowing the time the camera announces the hour (which it does every hour) can take some getting used to. You must reset the clock to the time zone you are in. Volume sucks. Even at full volume, it's not easy to understand what a person is saying when they say something. If the windows are open, forget it. The warning sounds like a cricket got into your car, LOLI is still locking onto the radar. Basically we got warnings from the range of k which I believe were wrong. While this is a legal and common range for police to use to determine speed, many non-law enforcement radar sources operate in this frequency range, including automatic door openers and some vehicle blind spot monitoring systems. Apparently, some radar detectors have "smart" K-band detection. somehow I don't think so. I look at the alerts I've gotten so I know which ones I really need to look out for the most, and this constant "false alarm" with the K range is a pretty big mistake in my opinion as we end up making it basically ignored . We passed about 3 cops and the radar didn't work but I think they were following cars coming from the opposite direction. The radar doesn't start until you're moving at about 15 miles per hour. It took me a little time to understand that. Image quality is good. Definitely good enough if you need it for a crash damage. It took me a few tries to get the suction cup in place, but it seems secure now. on site. I wish it had a rear camera. But it's not advertised with one so I can't get it there. But if I had an option, I would choose it. Overall it looks like a good device for the price. I'll come back and update if I have any revelations as I use it more. I'm stuck between 3 and 4 stars due to the loudness issue and the K-band. I'm giving 4 stars for now but might come back as I play with the settings more as I can at least do something about the K-band issue.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad but...
