We have an old house. Not sure if there was electricity when it was built so there are few outlets. We're updating as fast as we can afford, but for now this expansion has been a lifesaver. I like the long cord as our outlets are never where we need them. I like the rectangular plug because there is always a large piece of furniture in front of the socket. This gives us plenty of plugs as well as USB outlets making it much easier to charge any electronics. We actually have a second one in our cart as of this writing because we are so happy with it.
