Review on 🌧️ Ultimate Protection: Unleash Snugpak Patrol Poncho and Stay Dry in Style by Josh Chenier

Good set dries well fits well compresses small

I'm not a big poncho fan having lived in Florida after returning from OCONUS and although it rained heavily I usually am just going about my business. Now I spend a lot more time on my remote property, it's a bit cooler there. I have a Snugpak that I need for rainy weather but it was in the truck that GF took into town so I dug up this new poncho and wore it in a 35 degree downpour. As usual, the end of my sleeves got wet, but with the hood up (great to fit over the wool hood of my anorak) my neck and shoulders never got wet except for minor procedures, as did my "bum" when I got the chance also used to sit down cup of tea. Funnily enough, in one of the old outbuildings on my property, I found a very nice USGI issued poncho, the likes of which has never been seen before, made from the same Goretex material as ECW jackets in the mid 90's. It rained 3 days in a row, from rain to snow to sleet, the second day I didn't feel like carrying a wet snugpack so I tried one of the USGI, I said the snugpack was better, in fact after lunch I switched back to the snugpack. Patrol poncho. It also paired well with my camelbak attack pack, only sacrificing ground coverage a bit. Now I'm old and arthritic but I can still walk and I can see this will be a nice good set and I'm going to buy one for my girlfriend. It just sucks being cold and wet, it's a great item to beat that ticket. Now if I only knew where I put my damn Gorex pants.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Does not fit all
