As a digital medium recorded on a cassette, a CD should sound decent. I used to do this a lot in the past because the cassette is analog, so in some ways you unpack the music closer to its original, intended form. What a surprise! Not only did the music sound worse than a CD on two of my three cassette decks (LOTS of fuzzing and a lot more than on a regular cassette), but it sounded pretty bad overall, and it sounded very faded on those particular cassette decks. what shouldn't have happened. It is well known that cassettes recorded from CDs sound at least as good as, if not better than, CDs most of the time. But that wasn't the case with these cassettes. I recorded an awful sounding Nirvana CD on this cassette in two of my three cassette players. In other words, it sounded noticeably worse than a normal, standard, original analog cassette, even on my very good cassette deck. but for less than a dollar and with free shipping, you can't get a deal. That's a lot, and on my good cassette deck the bass and music in general sounds very good; even better than the original CD. I think it was "just me" because I had two portable cassette players that weren't the best quality. Anyway, a good quality cassette tape recorded from a CD should sound decent on a decent portable cassette player (which I have), but that's not the case for me. Lesson: Cassettes are best played through at least one cassette deck with decent speakers (I used computer speakers).
