Review on Respro Ultralight Mask Black Medium by Nathan Vaughn

I did a little research to find something to use when cycling during busy city traffic hours. This item had decent reviews and specs. On arrival it looked really nice and with high quality finishes. The first and biggest issue I encountered was the fit. When you put it on and the straps go around your neck, and unless you have a large chin, you feel like all the pressure of the mask is on your nose, not under your chin. There is a small velcro attached to the straps that allows you to adjust the length, but this does not solve the problem of space under the chin. To get a good closure all around I had to put on a hat or hat and then wrap the velcro up and up and around the hat or hat, strengthening the seal under my chin. So if you have a small chin, you may face the same problem. I think there must be a way to improve the straps so you can correct differences in chin size and face shape. There are two other issues I had with this mask, but they may be common to all masks. The first concerns smells. I thought they were less noticeable, but whenever I walked past a moving car, person smoking, food stall, or other source of strong smells, I could pick them up as if I wasn't wearing a mask. Maybe no mask can really stop odors? I was just wondering how effective it really is. The second additional issue was a chemical odor which I started to smell after the first use, but again this is the first mask I've used so I'm not sure if all masks smell like this. smells. I was sweating profusely after an hour of cycling, so I'm not sure if the humidity caused any reaction that made the odors from the various mask materials worse. He didn't smell of bad breath or a dirty, shabby hat; I think it's definitely the chemistry of the materials in the filter. In summary, I would feel a lot happier if the mask fitted better. Instead, I think a lot of unfiltered air got under my chin, especially when I was breathing a little heavier. I even tried wearing it backwards but it didn't work. So for now I will continue to wear the strap high on the back of my head, attached to my cap or hat, until I decide to buy another brand.
