Very soft, thick socks. I bought a SMALL size for my 9 year old daughter and 7 year old son before our ski trip to Colorado and these socks were a large size and height for ski boots (socks come high enough on the calves/shins so they fit taller are than the top of the ski boots). As for warmth, they didn't seem to keep my kids feet warm all day but we spent hours skiing down the slopes in the snow so I added toe warmers and their feet stayed warm all day!
