Review on Secure WSDCAM Bike Alarm System with 113dB Anti-Theft Vibration - Waterproof Burglar Motorcycle Bicycle Security Alarm - Includes Remote and Mount by Rafael Lee

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Would have been 5 stars if not.

I bought this alarm to protect my electric scooter. This is my fifth different type of "bike" alarm, including a cable lock alarm with keypad and remote, taillight/remote alarm, and a $200 Boomerang Theft GPS alarm (with a $3-month paid GPS subscription) . ). I'm by no means an expert but have done extensive research to find a reliable alarm. I was willing to pay for almost anything within reason as long as it worked. My main issue with the more expensive options was that many car alarms use 12v and my scooter doesn't allow the battery to be connected to other components. It's 24 volts and I don't know how to work out all the science behind working with specific watts, amps, wire gauges and whatnot. In addition, it will exhaust him greatly. I even tried attaching a camera (like CCTV) but couldn't do it without 12V so I had to resort to buying an expensive Wi-Fi helmet with recording capability (it shows real-time on my phone or tablet, what's behind me - real-time rear view camera) !) which I leave on, tether to the scooter and use it to keep an eye on it when I'm not around. Unfortunately the battery isn't the best so I needed a backup plan. This alarm was the perfect solution to my problem. But it can also be used to alert you that something else is being faked as long as there is space to attach or place that alarm. Placing decorations on the lawn during the Christmas season would be ideal as it seems like people steal just about anything these days. I have thought of many uses for this alarm clock. You can put it under the lid of the trash can to scare away animals or people making a mess on trash day. You can put it on the Snail mailbox to prevent mail theft, but remember to turn it off during delivery times. You just have to be close enough to hear it. You don't want this thing to work for long or it might upset your neighbors. For a cheap alarm clock it is very good. When needed, you can just toss it in your pocket/bag and it will alert you if it is taken or moved. Great for use in the park or at the beach or anywhere you are close enough to hear its alarm but still far enough away to need to keep an eye on it. You can use the included sticky pads to change the mounting options, although you'll definitely need to use something more permanent if you're not attaching zip ties or tubing for extra support. Don't just rely on sticky pads to attach this alarm clock to anything that moves. I see it clinging tightly (for a short time) to a stationary object, but no more. The alarm was packaged in 2 small plain white boxes inside a large plain white box, nice and cosy. There are no flaws anywhere except the front bottom part of the alarm (wsdcam) and the user manual. Each piece was either in a small pouch or in 1 of 2 plastic inserts. In a box were an alarm, instructions and a back panel with fittings. The manual is in poor standard English, but it's not really needed as you can quickly skim and figure everything out. You will have residual hardware, which is normal and depends on the installation option you chose. Another similarly sized box contained the mount and its hardware. Everything you need is included in the kit, although extra rubber tires can help if it doesn't fit. Screwdrivers are designed for very small hands, but they are not used for long. (Those are eyeglass screwdrivers.) My scooter's handlebars were too flimsy, so I used an old bike tire to fill the gap. Also, it helps stop slipping. The bracket is very stable and made of metal. It feels like it's going to last a very long time and certainly won't break out of the blue or out of the sunlight that weakens it. It's definitely not cheap hard plastic. I like how the control panel, alarm and bracket screw together, somewhat hidden from easy access and connect. The bracket has two options where the alarm can be attached to the panel. The bracket can be attached in the middle or higher up on the detector housing. (I had to mount the clock facing me as that was my only option as other accessories were coming soon.) It was a nice addition for maneuverability with other accessories. The alarm and control panel itself are MADE of hard plastic but have an acceptable touch quality. Nothing rattles inside and it doesn't seem like it's going to break with the slightest fall. It is approximately 1" thick in the center, then tapers up/down and is 2-2.15 +/- inches wide. Installation takes less than 5 minutes and can be placed almost anywhere as long as you don't mind using the included zip ties and sticky pads. The alarm is loud enough to hear the rest of my block (at least 6-7 houses). I'm sure it's a lot clearer at night, although it's not an alarm that can be relied on as the only deterrent to theft. However, this will surprise anyone trying to fiddle with your bike. It will definitely make them jump. It makes me jump up when I happen to bump into him and I know he's there! It also draws the attention of others, which is good. You want people to watch, so don't think negatively about reviews that this alarm is too loud. The remote control is also plastic, but it works well and responds quickly. Connected quickly and easily at the touch of a button. The functionality is sufficient, the buttons are conveniently located and easy to press. They could be a bit larger for thicker fingers, but that doesn't hurt. This does not mean that you will constantly push them. Be sure to remove the thin transparent plastic before pairing/using. You will see it sticking out from below. The remote control is MADE from hard plastic and seems cheaper (cheaper not cheap) but I have had the same remote control for other alarms and none of them have broken or given me any problems in over 2 years using them . It would be better if the hole where the remote connects to your keychain is a little bigger. It's not wide enough for a key ring to comfortably fit AND move freely. You can attach it to a standard O-ring keychain, but it's rigid and doesn't have any play. A fat quarter scarcely slipped through; Those are the small sizes. I have a feeling if I accidentally toss it in my backpack and something lands on top and presses it against the keychain ring it will easily tear and break and I won't be able to attach it to anything anymore. I'm not saying the remote will break, just a thin piece of plastic to attach it to. So be careful with the remote control. If this happens, search other websites for homemade brackets for remote controls, garage doors, etc. I'm sure they are available and cheap if needed to restore mounting capabilities. All in all, I highly recommend this alarm clock. For the price (I paid $21.99 on sale with an additional 5% discount coupon) you won't find a better anti-theft device. In terms of "you get what you pay for," buyers with this alarm have the edge. You can't expect to pay less than $25 and get a premium alarm clock. It just doesn't happen. This alarm clock is literally dinner, a drink, and a tip at a mediocre restaurant. Don't risk your hard-earned personal items because you think $20 is too much to spend on this alarm clock. I would recommend this alarm for bikes, motorcycles, scooters, skateboards, people using them on lower floors of apartments, grills or grills (if someone lives in areas with high theft rates), and much more. ** My only downside is that the alarm I received was slightly damaged. There is a chip on the outer shell. The defect is purely aesthetic and does not affect the quality of the alarm. (see photo 1-3) But I paid for a brand new alarm and would appreciate better quality control. I can say it is 100% brand new but has been damaged in some way on the line. I have the option to go back through the main mode, but knowing that this particular custom alarm works well I don't want to risk getting a replacement if it's broken or in worse condition. Due to Covid I don't want to make unnecessary trips to the local mall to come back so I'll probably keep it to myself. Maybe the seller would be so kind as to offer another one at a reduced price or something? As I said, I highly recommend this alarm, but make sure that it not only works properly, but also that it doesn't get damaged. Maybe it was just an accident and the low price should be taken into account. If it weren't for a little damage I would give this alarm 5 stars for its all round versatility, value for money, good quality and ease of use. I had no need for customer service/communication so I cannot vouch for their efficiency, competence or reliability. But good customer service always makes up for bad quality! (Like I said, I have the ability to return an item through Prime, so why message the company to complain about the damage?) * I will report any important information or issues if they arise. Please mark it as "helpful" if you thought it was kinda! The more chances I have to review products, the MORE HONEST and detailed reviews I can give so hard-working people like us aren't fooled! Am I extremely disappointed? I have two stars! I decided to drive in the evening the next day after installing the alarm. After riding for 3-4 minutes, the alarm fell off the mount after I ran into a small bump. My scooter is for a child and doesn't go faster than 9-10 miles per hour. I was in the middle of a crosswalk at night and had to stop and walk back to pick it up. After inspection, the alarm came from the panel that connects to the bracket. I don't know why (yet!), but the only thing I can think of is that the screw isn't screwed in properly (obviously) to hold it. Either the screw is too small or the thread is bad. I installed it myself so I know it was done right. Anyway, now I have to take it off and either fix it or send it back. I really liked this little alarm clock. last night. But the device failed within 5 minutes. On the positive side, the alarm itself is absolutely intact. Even scratches! I can't imagine what would happen if it fell again, but it's a solid piece of hard plastic. It still works well but I don't need an alarm which I can't securely attach to my scooter like I thought it would. If I had known that hardware was scarce I would have bought the version that attaches with zip ties because at least this model has zip tie slots. If I want to support the alarm clock with zip ties (so it doesn't fall off again), I think they need to go over the outside of the alarm clock. It will look cheap and tasteless. This also means that the alarm clock can slip slightly after a few hits as it tapers a bit at the ends. I suggest if you use the zipper model, buy yourself some metal zippers. They offer a little more protection, but not much. I'm frustrated with this situation but I hope I can fix it. If not I will just return it and buy another brand that I have used in the past that has a great taillight/alarm and will just use the alarm as the front red light is really not needed. I will update once I diagnose the problem.
