It does not work! for aquarium water treatment

Misleading packaging as bottle says 40 gallons. I have a 29 gallon tank that I wanted to use. However, after reading the fine print on the back of the bottle, it says it's only good for 20 gallons for a new tank. Oh, good thing I didn't read all the fine print, but it still had to cycle my tank by just taking a little longer. In fact, after 3 weeks of using the whole bottle (16oz!) there was no cycle activity (I used the no fish method with ammonia which I use in all my tanks). Ammonia levels stayed high (4ppm) and never dropped. The bottle was new, over a year old, so the product was fresh (although that says nothing about on-shelf handling). An 8.4 ounce bottle that I only used about half for). My tank started cycling 24 hours and ended up 4 days later with 0ppm ammonia and nitrite and lots of nitrate. And over the next week I had an expected diatom bloom indicating a fresh tank cycle. My recommendation from years of experience, whether you are starting a new freshwater or saltwater aquarium and want to get your aquarium back in shape quickly, use one of the starter bacteria that contain the spiral shape of the bacteria. such as Marineland Bio-Spira, Tetra Safe Start Plus, Dr. Tim's One and Only or Instant Ocean Organic Spira. The only non-spiritual bacteria starter I've tried that works, but a little slower and in larger amounts is ATM Colony Saltwater.
