We ordered this bag as a small family travel backpack but found it served a dual purpose. My 5 year old uses this CamelBak 18L hydration pack at kindergarten camp. He has nothing to take or bring home - just a snack, a bottle of water and sometimes a folder. This bag is incredibly ideal for this type of use - it doesn't need a heavy school backpack for camping - it's slim and almost backpack-like (it only weighs 11 ounces!) but is made of durable nylon. .Once ready for summer camps, this bag is perfect for our family to use on day trips or bike day trips. Because it weighs so little, it's very comfortable to wear and won't make you sweat or get sore. It comes with a large 1.5 liter hydration reservoir and suction hose, and there's a skinny hole in the top of the bag to thread the hose through the front strap and drop it down for access . There are also two side mesh pockets for water bottles. The water tank fits nicely in a pocket in the bag - or you can use this bag as a laptop sleeve, suitable for a 15" computer if you want to use it as a lightweight everyday bag. There's a lot to love about this backpack. It's really well thought out. There is a zipper at the top of the bag to ensure it stays closed, but it doesn't have to be. There are also straps that secure the bag and can be tightened to make the bag smaller. The mesh side water bottle pockets are just the right height and we don't have bottles that fall out on their own. The back straps are adjustable, padded and very comfortable. They even have a small outside pocket for storing small items like phone, keys, stationery etc. I can't say enough about it. I didn't expect to love him as much as I do. It's durable and seems to get heavy use in our home and should last for many years. If you're looking for something minimal in terms of weight and storage pockets, this is a great option. I'm so excited we ordered this and it worked on our little guy.
