I lost an older Sony tape recorder (model unknown) which was very reliable. In an attempt to replace a lost Sony, I settled on the current generation Pasasonic RQ-L31 portable tape recorder. It's obvious that this device isn't "built" like Sony; This Panasonic RQ-L31 could certainly do the job though, although I do miss the more solid feel of the older Sony. To be honest, it looks like the current Sony generation is built to the current Panasonic standard. So I have to adapt to the new generation of tape recorders. By the way, I recently bought a portable digital tape recorder and I am very dissatisfied with the sound quality and the inconvenience of operation compared to the good old tape recorder.
