Fits as expected but not soft

I bought these sheets for an RV bunk. They fit well and have elastic straps on all sides to help stay in place. However, they are pretty rough. I bought two so I know one isn't just a dud. I never expected them to be hotel quality or have a high thread count, but they are quite uncomfortable for sleeping. My kids have jersey sheets on their beds at home, which are in the same price range but much softer than these. I have tried several detergents and fabric softeners and nothing has changed.
