Review on πŸš” SpeedTech Lights Raptor TIR Interior Split LED Strobe Visor Light Bar - Red/Blue for Emergency Vehicles & Police with Bracket and Control Box by Charles Long

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Bright lights, many patterns, difficult to install.

I don't know where to start with these lights. I was under the impression that you have to pay for professional installation and that these are not the most convenient fixtures to build yourself. Your instructions will tell you how to put on your braces and that's it. There are even some brackets that come with the headlights, but I'm not even sure what they are for. These headlights do not fit older cars and I installed them on my 2002 Mazda B3000 (Ford Ranger). I got the alternating red/white light bar and after installing the light brackets I finally screwed a small screw into the double walled part of the ceiling in my truck cab to secure the lights, now they don't go anywhere but when they fit the windshield with a rubber seal, they reflect off the windshield quite poorly. Installing the electronics can be easy or difficult depending on your experience. I simply drilled a hole in my firewall, routed the wires to the battery, secured the excess with zip ties and sealed the holes/wires with silicone. I'm a fan of the control panel and buttons. Love the multiple patterns that come with the light and the auxiliary cables for connecting additional lights to the control panel via the AUX button. Depending on the size of your vehicle, the wires running between the two visor light boxes can have a lot of excess that needs to be connected and controlled. The light blocks themselves are pretty thin and don't interfere with my DVR and rear view mirror. And with my tint strip, you can't even tell I have headlights on the outside until I turn them on. They are bright enough in daylight if you stand directly in front of them. The takedowns are also pretty good and can be used independently of the emergency lights. These headlights hit and miss. ADVANTAGES - Bright lighting. β€” Good control panel with additional functions for additional lighting. β€” Collapsible lanterns are pretty good. - Slim profile helps with visibility and cosmetics, these things look really nice and professional once installed. CONS - Difficult to install, not DIY-friendly, lack of literature, guides, and online resources to help with installation, requiring you to understand and "shoot". Installation seems to require a lot of improvisation to achieve a secure fit. - Does not seem suitable for older cars. - Cabling management is something of a nightmare. They sell specific vehicle specific mounts separately, they appear to be for relatively newer models. They may or may not help with an easier installation. After all, these are work lights, they don't feel cheap and I'm sure they'll last a while. It entirely depends on how YOU want to use and install them. It was difficult for me to install them, the next person might not. Knowing what I know now, I would only pay for a professional installation. I'm happy with the end result, but the sheer unfriendliness involved with all the components keeps me from giving a 4 or 5 star rating for this product. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE HARDWARE, one of the mount nuts wasn't even screwed on and I had to go and buy another one.
