Review on ๐ŸŽฎ OpenDingux Classic Portable: The Ultimate Handheld Console Experience by Matt Larsen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A solid little emulator for the 16-bit generation.

I bought this laptop specifically to introduce my son to GBA NES SNES and other same or previous generation games. This console meets most of the needs of an emulator device. Design: It's very well designed (as it should be, since it took most of its design decisions after the GameBoy). The plastic feels solid and looks very appealing. I have the matte black version and it really looks and feels like a trademarked Sympathy. The buttons are another plus point for this small console. The D-Pad is almost identical to the GBA, the shoulder buttons are responsive and have a nice click (similar to the DSi). The volume wheel could be improved as it is very sensitive and I find it too loud or too quiet. . It takes effort to set it up. All in all a very attractive design that is sure to draw some attention. Performance: It emulates games up to GBA, SNES and other 16-bit generation games very well. You may notice a slight slowdown in some games that have a certain area with unusual graphical effects (for those I include frames). But overall a solid emulation device if you understand its limitations. Given this little guy's limited processing power, don't expect him to be good at running PS games. I've tried a few but the experience is terrible. I didn't buy it to play those games so it doesn't bother me at all. I definitely recommend this little guy to anyone trying to play 16-bit games and below. The design aesthetic, screen, and performance make it the perfect machine for the nostalgic.
