2022 Mensa Select on my review.

We always review the Mensa Select games for potential new favorites. This 2022 Mensa Select game is a winner in our house! Although the rules are simple it is a wonderful game of strategy. This game is now in rotation with our other favorites (Qwixx, Azul, Ticket To Ride, Trekking, Racko, Five Crowns, Blokus, Wingspan, and Quacks of Quedlinburg). I have no doubt we will enjoy this for many years.

Pros
  • Extremely easy to learn, good for all ages. Endless fun
Cons
  • Its tile-based nature can make it hard to keep track of the game board

Simple Family Fun for my opinion

This is a simple game that keeps you thinking. My family ranges from 10 - 50+ and we all like different types of games. Shifting Stones was something we all enjoyed and didn't have to review the rules over and over. While it is competing against everyone else, you don't interfere with others as you play your own hand against the stones and find your own pattern.Great game!

Pros
  • This is one of our new favorites to play when on a cruise.
Cons
  • Can feel repetitive after a few rounds of play

Game if fun but on my review.

The game it self is fun and good quality. However, the one I was sent was clearly used. Everything was open and loose in the box. The box was scuffed up on the inside and cracking. From how it looks like when you take the lid off and on a lot without care. The cards are bent like repeated shuffling does to cards.

Pros
  • A ton of fun and keeps you thinking!
Cons
  • Learning the game rules can be overwhelming for some

We love ALL our Gamewright games! This one is no exception! High quality materials, easy to learn, lots of fun to play! Toys & Games.

Pros
  • Toys & Games
Cons
  • Can be competitive, making it hard to enjoy with some players.

Great entertainment

This game is very strategic. Definitely for tweens and older. Was a gift for family with boys ages 11 and 13.They love it Thanks for attention!

Pros
  • Rearrange and/or flip the 9 "Stone" tiles to match patterns on your cards and score the most points by the end of the game.
Cons
  • Can project a stressful environment for some players.

Easy to learn for my opinion

This is a fun game that is easy to learn! I gave it to a friend for her birthday and it quickly became one of our new favorites.

Pros
  • Shifting Stones is an exciting game that stimulates the brain and helps players improve their focus and mental agility
Cons
  • Needs specific conditions to play- good surface space, good lighting, good eyesight

awesome challenging solo game!

I"ve only played this solo mode and the rules are a bit different in that you make a mini deck of 16 cards of predetermined values - 8x 1 value, 4x 2 value, 3x 3 value and a 5 value. to win ALL of the cards have to be played. cards 'pay' for each move but in the end all the cards have to be scored which means when the last card is in your hand after shuffling the discard pile for the last time, the tile layout has to be there already from the last play! I got within 1 card which thrilled me. 3…

Pros
  • The tiles are designed to allow players to create their paths and plan their moves effectively
Cons
  • May require too much mental energy to enjoy for some players

Easy and fun game! on my review.

This is a great game that feels somewhat like a puzzle, it’s easy to learn and has simple rules but it just complex enough where it isn’t boring.

Pros
  • 119
Cons
  • Not suitable for players who dislike abstract elements in games

Quick, Easy, Unique Game

I just got this and I love it! The rules are so simple and its a quick game. I love the colors. The cards seem a little less sturdy than most playing cards, but that's fine.

Pros
  • We got this gift as a Christmas present. Everyone has enjoyed playing it.
Cons
  • Was a gift.

A new favorite in the board game collection

This game is deceptively easy to learn and play but allows for a layer of strategy underneath it’s surface.Easy setup and a good pace of game allows for multiple replays (especially since resetting the game is easy).

Pros
  • The game is easy to set up and play, and ideal for quick and fun gaming sessions
Cons
  • May not be suitable for players with color recognition disabilities

Another fantastic Gamewright game

We have many gamewright games at our house so I bought this without thinking much about it. It’s another hit! Such a simple concept but with so much replay value. Great for guests or family time.

Pros
  • Shifting Stones is an excellent way to learn about the significance of the different stones used in the game
Cons
  • Can be frustrating if not familiar with the rules

Box is destroyed: my feedback

I ordered a new game, and it came all damaged and I can’t even get the box open because it’s all taped closed. Not very happy about ordering a new game and getting something that’s been used and destroyed.

Pros
  • This tile-based game encourages players to think and strategize like real-life strategists
Cons
  • Can unfairly disadvantage some players based on starting tile locations

Winner for all ages

Was searching for games that our family ages 6, 14, 17, and adult would enjoy. This is a definite winner. Easy to explain the rules, simple enough to play, but enough strategy to make it fun for all ages. Game play takes just the right amount of time as well to keep attention span of everyone.

Pros
  • The game rules are easy to understand, and it's suitable for those new to strategy games
Cons
  • May require a lot of patience from some players

Fun playing with my teenager

This game is fun. Requires strategy and planning, but definitely not drawn out. Easy to learn and easy to play. Not long.

  • Games & Accessories
Cons
  • Some players may find the rules confusing

Excellent filler for my opinion

A fast-paced tactical game for the whole family and for gamers alike. Shifting Stones is quickly becoming my go-to game to start every game night. It plays in under a half-hour, it is fun, elegant, and beautiful.

Pros
  • Shifting Stones is a game that teaches players how to be strategic in decision-making and planning
Cons
  • May not be ideal for players who prefer games with a strong storyline

Another great Gamewright game!

We have been big fans of Gamewright for a while. We frequently get games from Gamewright without knowing much about them just because we trust the brand. Shifting Stones does not disappoint! The instructions for this game were easier to get through than many Gamewright games, game play is easy to understand, and it's quick and easy to begin to realize where the strategy comes in here. Because the "board" (you lay 9 squares out and they can move) is different every time, and the goals you are…

Pros
  • It's a great way to take a break from screen time and engage the mind in a fun way
Cons
  • Not suitable for players who are not fans of puzzles and thinking games

I love this game! And I can play solo

This is a super fun game. I love that I can play it by myself with a smaller deck. And that I could also play with more people. It was very easy to figure out the rules and to read through all the instructions. Basically you make a 9x9 grid and then you have four cards in your hand for every card you discard you can take a move. Each move is either you can move a tile into place or flip a tile. And you're just trying to match the patterns on your card. Some of the cards are harder to get and…

Pros
  • This game was easy to understand and fun to play. There is also a solo version.
Cons
  • The game pieces are small and easy to lose

Tons of fun for two or more players!

I got to play the beta version of this game a couple years ago and played it for 3 hours straight. It was fun then and this version is much more refined and just as fun as I remember! It's great for two people and only gets more fun when you add other players. It's rules are very simple so you can play very quickly right out of the box. Easy enough that I might try teaching my grandmother 😅Definitely a game I'll be buying for the other board gamers in my family and friendship circles.

Pros
  • My sister brought along on our trip to Montana ... LOVE THIS GAME!!! So much fun!!!
Cons
  • May not be ideal for players with color blindness
