I couldn't connect these plugs to Wi-Fi. I followed all the instructions but I kept being told that I have to use the 2.4GHz network. I didn't even know there were different types of networks so I started looking into this and found that my phone was telling me it was a 5GHz network. After further research, it seems that routers should have BOTH 2.4 and 5GHz options, but I've searched higher and lower and never found a way to "enable" my 2.4GHz signal. . Since I don't know anything about such things, I couldn't decide whether the defect was in the product or in my network. A few weeks later I installed a new Ring camera which I found also required a 2.4GHz network. . I logged into my Wi-Fi account on the computer (the app was useless for that) and was able to determine that my router actually has BOTH 2.4 and 5 GHz settings and both are active because of several others Devices in the house were already connected to each. The new ring camera connected immediately with no issues and said nothing about the type of router/network. So basically this product has a bug because it can't connect to my network and keeps telling me I don't have a 2.4GHz setup, which I do. Too bad. So many positive reviews, maybe I'm just unlucky? Who knows. But the purpose of the plugs was to use them for street Christmas lights, and since I've never been able to get them to work I won't need them once the holiday is over. To return. Maybe I'll try again next year with a different kind of smart plug.
