I have speakers in my computer setup and have used a standing table over the desk to get my monitors at the right height. These stands elevate my monitors to the perfect height and also free up space underneath for me to place my speakers. Without a monitor stand, my screens are too low and my hands are uncomfortable when gaming. Thus, these coasters have a dual purpose. These were the cheapest monitor stands, but I wouldn't call them "budget" because it suggests a compromise in quality. These are solid stands, I didn't expect more.
