WOW! I was a television/video producer/director.

. Back to the 80's and 90's. We used professional location lighting kits from Lowell and others. This set can do the same for close-up and medium shots. It's EASY for those who shoot podcasts, video conferences, etc! 3 lights with tripods and soft filters AND CONTROLS for $50! The fact that they can be dimmed completes their usefulness. Here are some tips: You can add warmth or tint to your photos with color filters. (For example, if there is a lot of daylight in the room, most video cameras will compensate for this colored light. The daylight contains a lot of blue. Try using a RED filter for the key light for the foreground subject. to add warmth to skin tones. ) If you're outside (yes, you can power the light with those portable phone chargers) and just want to emphasize the subject in the foreground, use a daylight blue filter. Lots of options. All filters attenuate the light a bit so you don't have a glare on your subject. (If you don't want to.) If you can place another light behind the subject on the side, you can get a nice BACKLIGHT (or edge light) to separate the subject from the background. (Unfortunately, there are no "barn doors" here. Shutters block the flow of light and focus it where you want it. But that's a nitpick at this price point.) The tripods aren't very tall when fully extended, but they are when you do there are sitting they are alright. I don't feel like they are easy to put on like others have commented but to be honest,

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • Big and Bulky
