Review on Velpeau Arm Sling For Elbow Injury - Medical Shoulder Immobilizer Rotator Cuff Support Brace Strap - Comfortable For Shoulder Injury, Broken, Dislocated, Fractured, Left & Right (Medium) by Victor Jack

Good upgrade from my circa-2000 shoulder immobilizer

I have an older shoulder immobilizer that I got in 1999 or 2000 when I had my 3rd or 4th rotator cuff injury, and it's been getting pretty worn since my hypermobile joints slip out of place fairly regularly. It's saved countless trips to the ER where they'd have just told me I was already doing everything they could have told me to do to heal it up--and the MRI techs were generally already out for the night. So getting a replacement for my old one is a fantastic idea. This is a much better arrangement than my old one--the strap around the body is narrower and works better for large-busted women like myself, and the sling strap is quite a bit more comfortable since it attaches to both the front and back of the body strap, holding the arm close to the body and keeping the wrist and thumb well-supported. A bit more elbow support might be helpful for my hypermobility, but that would make it less comfortable for most other people. I love the amount of adjustment possible in the straps--this immobilizer fits well over light tank tops as well as blazers and heavier sweaters, which is great when my shoulders can slip out half a dozen times in a week during a bad streak, which is when the immobilizer comes out until I can get the muscles strengthened to stabilize them. Being able to use this at any time of year, regardless of the weather, is a huge help, because my old one was too warm in summer and couldn't fit over winter clothes; I'm glad to have a new one that should hopefully last me another 20 years.
