OK. A small background sound is introduced.

Like other Milso products, it looks solid and is very pleasant to look at. The joints all feel good - not loose or too tight to use. On Linux, it recognizes well, plug-and-play, and works fine most of the time. This device is designed for use with gaming headsets. I tried using it for something like high fidelity audio input. So here are a few pointers on using a Shure PGA48 mic (a pretty decent mic) with this.1. Plugging in a mono mic cable didn't work at all. I had to use a female TS male TRS.2 adapter. The device appears to emit a faint squeak. I've read on other devices that this causes a ground loop, but in my experience this squeak also occurs when the laptop battery is running. See fig. The howling is not very loud/noticeable but if you are looking for a quality recording then this is not what you are looking for. No other reviews mention this, so maybe it's a feature of what I have, or maybe it's not meant to be used with this type of mic. The microphone input was not very loud. When I cranked it up to 150% via software, it was decent. Overall I like it, and it works and does what the laptop's built-in headset/mic jack can't, so it's good that it's there. Disclosure: I am being compensated for this purchase for providing this review.
