These are probably rechargeable batteries. Not new. I bought them in May for a dozen gate remotes we use in our shop. They arrived in an unwrapped envelope which wouldn't bother me if they were fresh and would keep for a normal length of time. Since the old batteries were dead, I've been replacing them with these batteries for the past few months. After feeling like changing batteries in recently replaced remotes, I started writing the install date on the outside with a permanent marker. In fact, in the last ten days I've replaced THREE batteries that have been used for less than two months, when other batteries in these remotes typically last over a year! Some two year old remotes still have the original battery that came with them and they still work! These loose batteries can be manufacturing defects, used batteries or possibly dead batteries that have been recharged. DO NOT BUY THIS! UPDATE: 10/16/2016 - I just had to replace one of these batteries which was installed on September 21st 2016 - less than 1 month old! What a rip off!
