You have 2 settings and the higher setting produces unbearable and constant noise. I absolutely would not have bought this if they had made it clear in the product description that it was made and if the box hadn't been destroyed when I spilled water on the counter I would have returned it. I still run them on lower settings hoping they are powerful enough to keep mice away. The seller has contacted me and explained that they have updated the item's description, but they still claim it is an ultrasonic (meaning the frequency is too high for humans to hear), which is clearly not the case case is. False advertising. AVOID!
