I am a quality engineer and my job is to find out what is wrong with our part. I don't have calipers, but I need one to quickly measure the dimensions of the part, the diameter, and the location of the holes. I've looked at Mituyoto, Starret, Brown and Sharpe and they all have high prices. Luckily, I stumbled across this Mahr caliper on sale for $58. I gambled without knowing the origin of the brand and bought it and it was worth it. Accurate out of the box and very well built. I did a little research and Mahr is a German company that makes precision gauges. Sometime in the 2000s they teamed up with the American company Federal and made measuring tools for the American market. They have factories in China so the caliper is probably made here. The caliper came with a box and full instructions. This caliper can transmit data wirelessly, but you need to buy software for it. I only use it to measure basic stuff and so far it's great. The only thing I have is that the box looks like it has been dragged onto a shelf. The caliper appears to be new but there are a few scratches on the packaging. No big deal, but it looks like the Revain camp should take better care of such valuable tools.
