I used to have one of these humidifiers. It lasted over 4 years. However, you really should buy filters. They significantly extend the life of your humidifier. This is a COOL mist humidifier. This works great in the winter when your house dries out due to the use of the heater. I bought this because I kept waking up with dry nasal passages, dry mouth and a sore throat. Put a humidifier in the bedroom and no more problems. This machine is quiet. The only downside is that some areas on the bottom stand are difficult to clean. However, they do offer a small brush to get into these areas. Basically a great car.
