good idea - does what I wanted. Yes, the lenses are flat (not curved) so they feel a bit odd, but they work quite well. You have to turn your head slightly to look directly behind you (or farther down the road behind you), but this is a very slight head turn. I notice that on really clear days, when the sun is on your side (not in front of you or overhead), the reflection from your face is quite noticeable and can distract from the possibility of a "rear view". The same can happen on dark days when the shadow of your face can cause the same problem. Overall they work well for what I wanted but don't
