This also seems to be a great NIR therapy product. Haven't seen any real effects yet, hence 4 stars instead of 5. And yes I understand this is NOT the purpose this product was made for but as it emits near IR light in the 850nm frequency range it is perfect for use as a therapeutic light. If you're new to this type of therapy, go online and search for "photobiomodulation" or "near infrared therapy." You'll find exciting positive results from current research (it's mid-2017 as I write this) in the treatment of many diseases, from Alzheimer's disease to macular degeneration. Another big plus of this is that this type of treatment has no known side effects. But make sure for yourself before deciding on this type of treatment and if in doubt, consult your doctor. However, since this is so new, don't be surprised if your doctor doesn't know about it. For the price they're charging for this light (just under $70 at the time of writing this), it's significantly cheaper than dedicated devices. manufactured exclusively for medical purposes. One last thing, to use this light as a therapy device, I had to remove the protective lens, apply black tape to the green light sensor, and then replace the protective lens. It took about 10 minutes but made it so the light stays on when I plug it in, even in bright environments.
