Review on 🧡 B42 Funlock Coverstitch Machine by Bernette by Summer Hendricks

Pleasantly surprised

For a long time I hesitated to buy this car without seeing my eyes. I've been using Phaff (an old German machine) or Bernina (770QE) for over 20 years. I usually buy my cars from a local dealer. My Bernina dealer doesn't have the Bernette line so I was hesitant to buy it online. I decided to buy an oversewing machine to sew skater dresses that look more professional than using a zig zag stitch to attach elastics to the holes. I was looking at a new Bernina L890 that would have cost $7,000! While I don't know how long I'll be using the coverstitch machine (I already have an serger), I was hesitant to spend that kind of money. The Bernette line is made by Bernina, but it's a simpler mechanical machine. It's not as good as my Bernina (I wasn't expecting that for only $500). I will say this is a decently made little machine and sews well. This is good for beginner cover stitches and/or light use. If I like it and start making a lot of figure skating dresses I'll probably buy a Bernina L890 in the future if I make enough money off the dresses to justify the cost. This one may not stand up to prolonged heavy use, but it's a good start.
