The collar is very well made, my miniature dachshund (12 lb) gets used to it quickly. He was nuterd. I bought him this soft collar before his surgery, and he started wearing it since he got back home. It definitely helped. He has no problem running, eating, sleeping with it. One problem is his long body and long nose helped him reach the wound with almost no effort. So he still can lick it, but he definitely tried much less time with the collar on. We take it off when he goes out because it touches the ground when he looks down. If you have a dachshund, maybe try a different one that's facing up instead of flat like this one?
