As you can see, there is a significant difference in the volume of the recorded sound with and without the microphone. This makes sense as the USB mic was closer to the sound source. While your voice will be louder with a USB mic, background noise will also be louder, which is not surprising given the mic's price. As such, it's a good, stylish entry-level mic for those who want it, or for computers that don't. Install microphone. In practice, speaking louder or closer to the laptop microphone has the same effect. To raise this product from 4 to 5 stars I would like to see better noise canceling features to remove background noise which is detected by the microphone as advertised.
