Review on πŸ”₯ Optimized Louisville Slugger Black Flame Pitching Machine for Enhanced Performance by Chad Aguirre

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good for practice, awkward to transport.

I've used this hitting machine in several drills with my team and I'm very satisfied. It doesn't throw regular baseballs as hard as advertised (an average of 38 mph on max settings versus the advertised 50 mph). This is still very useful for youth baseball practice, but this is about the average speed kids will see in a game, although some kids throw harder. It also hits the hitting zone fairly accurately, with enough variation for the hitter to adjust their swing, with the occasional slingshot in the dirt that I like to point out. Easy to assemble, easy to use. Not easy to transport. The two spiked legs on the front are a horror to the floor even during storage. Useful for stability in the field but would be nice to have a storage case or something to protect the floors. In addition, the unit is inconvenient to transport; It would be easy to clip it onto the carry handle, but still the thing isn't comfortable for carrying over long distances (i.e. in the field and off). Due to the slower speed and the issues listed, I'm only giving it 3 stars. It works for its intended purpose but could easily be a much better product with a few simple tweaks. Looking back, I wish I had bought the previous model for $50 less. However, if you are a youth coach you will get money from this product if you don't have access to power machines to serve and have the same leverage as me.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
