I was looking for low profile (about 3" with grille) inexpensive speakers for background music at my desk and playing a recorded meeting. It was what I needed and that's why I'm happy. I just lean the speakers against the back of my desk. Sounds great on "folk music", straight acoustic guitar (very good) and freshly recorded voice (very good); It's not what you want to play rock music at a volume higher than the low levels. I use them with a small (15w) Pylepro PCA1 amp and use the EQ in my MP3 player to boost the bass a bit. I could bring a Pylepro PCA2 that has a bass and treble control and that would help the sound.
