Review on Fjallraven Raven Backpack: The Ultimate Laptop Companion by Karthikeyan Behm

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is probably the best lightweight backpack for city day trips that I have found or had.

Probably the best lightweight urban day trip backpack I've ever found or owned. It's very strong and durable (material = legit) and has LOTS of handy pockets everywhere to keep me organized. I bought this after a trip to Iceland with a small 18L Patagonia 2 pocket/compartment backpack and upgraded to a Raven 20 before my wife and I went to Copenhagen and explored the city for a week. However, I do have a few other bag types that I really like for a variety of purposes - and I would NOT recommend using the Raven 20 for hiking or traveling in really warm climates for a few reasons - first of all, its back is not vented. If you are in a hot climate, you will sweat. He won't breathe. Because it's a waterproof canvas, your sweat stays on the outside of the bag and soaks into your clothes. So if you're visiting Central America or Asia and want to run all day, choose something lighter and more breathable. Second, the Raven 20 doesn't have a waist or chest strap, so you can't secure your load while hiking. Third, its pockets and compartments aren't really designed for the large amounts of water you might need on a hike. So don't get me wrong - this bag is awesome, but you know what you're getting it for.

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • The list will be long.
