Review on 🎨 Unlocking Creativity: Exploring Pattern Magic's Artistic Design Techniques by Amanda Castillo

Excellent pattern book

It is difficult for an experienced pattern maker/drawer to find a pattern book that is interesting and has anything but basic instructions and boring styles. . I was thrilled to find this book that has everything that other modeling books don't have. . . It has original and creative ideas with clear instructions and good quality pictures. This book is AWESOME! This is a small book but each of the styles/patterns is fascinating and the skills shown can be applied to other new designs. This book assumes a basic level of pattern making skills (the more advanced your skills are, the easier it will be to recreate these designs). You can use your own sliders (or blocks) to try out the techniques shown, or you can copy the half-size sliders (bodice, front and back) included at the end of the book so you can start practicing the examples instantly. . Note: The measurements given in the book are given in centimeters (cm), so if you are used to working in inches, you will need to do some conversion! The sketches (many of them!) of the steps are very clear and there are many photos in the book (all very clear and many close-ups to better understand the shapes and steps). The author uses paper to create mock-ups for many concepts, then cuts them apart to create patterns - think curtains but with paper instead of muslin! (The author does not mention the need to add seam allowances to patterns created by cutting these paper layouts - you just need to know what is needed and how to do it). or experience with patterns or curtains will enable you to fully enjoy the projects featured in this book (even if you don't, you will enjoy reading about just some of the ideas). This book was definitely worth the price. In fact, I will be buying the other two Pattern Magic books (Volume 2 and Volume 3) by this author.
