Some 1 star reviews complain about too much compression, some not enough. I have been wearing calf compression sleeves for over 2 years and use pressures of 20-30mmHg. Art. for sports and 15-20 mmHg. Art. for daily activities. I've come to the conclusion that if I don't walk all day, ride a bike 5+ hours, or run a marathon (0% chance), 15-20mmHg. enough that I don't have calf problems at night. The main characteristic of compression (at least I think so, based on the fact that I'm using myself as an n=1 test subject) is the uniformity of compression around the compressible part of the body. These socks adapt equally to the foot, arch and heel. I wouldn't say it's even in the 15-20 mm Hg range. Art., Density feels less compressive. I received these socks and wore a pair on a 16 mile bike ride a day in temperatures of 88-90F. I came out sweaty and while my boots were damp inside, my socks and feet were dry. I couldn't help but notice because I didn't think socks could wick moisture that effectively. Another day I wore another pair of these socks for a 5 mile walk in hot weather. I found the socks to be snug enough to be part of my foot rather than a third element between the boot, toe and foot. It was pretty handy. I waited until I had put on 3 pairs of these socks and then washed all 6 pairs because I wanted to see how the socks I was wearing compared to the ones I wasn't wearing. I turned my socks inside out, as I do with all my compression gear, to make sure the part that comes in contact with the skin is clean. I posted a photo of 2 pairs of worn and washed socks. Except for a few wrinkles, they fit just as well as new socks. Obviously one wash doesn't tell you how they'll hold up over 50 washes, but if you use warm water and low heat to dry them they seem to hold up well. These are definitely the socks I will wear for all my sporting activities as well as when traveling by plane.
