To assemble this item you will need simple household tools. I didn't have them so I had to borrow some from a neighbor. It took about 30 minutes to assemble, but I'm a young girl, I have no experience assembling furniture, and nothing was tangled or anything, so I'd say it was pretty easy. I've been using this table for about 5 months and it's holding up great. This is definitely for one person and one laptop. I used it with a laptop and a 21" monitor so there was no extra horizontal space. The keyboard is pretty cramped, but I don't need to see my hand while typing, so it doesn't matter. The edges of this table were rough and they hurt and left marks on my hands so I bought a black edge protector to cover the front edges and it also softened my wrists. Overall excellent value for money!.
