This product is advertised as 'food grade silicone'. According to the packaging upon delivery, the blocks are made of PVC. Silicone is a rubber based product while PVC is a plastic. I bought the blocks expecting silicone that has no harmful effects on my health. On the other hand, plastic can contain toxins, even BPA-free plastic may not be completely safe. The Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends parents use plastic alternatives whenever possible, as some research shows harmful chemicals are released from any type of plastic, even BPA-free ones. When it arrived, nowhere on the packaging did it say it was BPA-free. Since the description of the material the blocks were made of was wrong, I couldn't believe the description of them being BPA free was correct. I decided to return them. Also, the blocks are smaller than they appear in the pictures. Their area is less than 2 inches.
