Really great shoes. I thought that this strange protector was going to be very strange, and it was at the very beginning. This definitely gives the shoe a nice lift, like it's noticeably higher than normal compared to other running shoes. It's a great jumping pad and the treads are perfectly capable of gripping anything, although they haven't really been tested in the wet. The upper of the sneaker looks great with retro styling and a high-tech crossover. They're getting a little dirtier than I wanted, but oh well. I was able to take out the insoles and put my own insoles in so I had great support and had no issues with pain or discomfort. I love that the Merrel brand is sophisticated and people have asked who makes it with nice compliments. It's quite funny because people are surprised when I mention this brand as they are not really known for running shoes or hiking shoes. Definitely hooked and hoping to buy more of the same style, maybe even red ones one day, but probably not
