The magnet is very strong and holds my iPhone plus in the case with no problems. The only problem is that when your car's air vents are tilted, so is your phone. I have a Nissan Pathfinder and the vents are angled upwards. I ended up buying a fake pop socket and attached a magnet to it. This allows the phone to tilt away from the vent (rather than up). Also, keep in mind that a large phone can completely block airflow. It's no fun when it's 100 degrees and you're running the AC. They need to develop a holder that plugs into a CD player - never use again. At the same time, however, I was very impressed with the strength of the magnet.
