Review on Sangean WR-7DK Dark Cherry Wood Cabinet Mini Bluetooth Speaker with FM Radio Tuner and Aux-in by Pamela Ervin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Amazing reception and sound for its size. Just a little pricey for what it is.

I have half a dozen Sangean radios. I got it for the kicks in the guest room and WOW. I need another one for my office. This thing is incredible for its size. Reception is AMAZING, it clearly works on the DSP as it locks right into stations that are even in close proximity if you move the dial. They simply snap into place and the modeling light comes on. The sound is wow. For such a tiny speaker, it's full-fledged and not tinny at all. Note to those under 35: The definition of good sound is more than "how much BASS does it have?!" Believe it or not kids, there's highs, mids and lows in sound! However, the fact that it's ported gives it a decent low-end for its surprisingly small size. The 35-hour battery is a plus - a good thing for power outages and the like. The perfect little table radio. Yes, there are "Bluetooth speakers" that will likely boost bass (and nothing else) and might even have a cheap $0.25 FM tuner chip. You won't even come close to receiving this thing - neither sensitivity nor selectivity. This thing even outperforms my big Sangean tabletop radios and I'd say even on par with my C. Crane. And I'm speaking as a longtime radio amateur working in radio engineering. Excellent work. For $50 that would be awesome. And that's the ONLY reason I'm deducting a star. At around $80, it's way overpriced for what it is. Considering you can get one of Sangean's full-featured desktop radios with AM, FM, Bluetooth, Aux, and USB charging for $105, that's a bit overpriced. Five stars for $49.99 or even $54.99 four for $79.
