New love for an old lens.

I write a lot of reviews. I'm surprised I haven't written a review on this lens in 6 years of owning this lens. Here's my story. I lost a lot of money trying to resell old lenses after switching to mirrorless lenses. I gave up the fight and bought a cheap DSLR to use some of my old lenses as they are still in great condition. The 2.8-4 macro capabilities of this lens make it excellent on paper. I decided to mount this lens, shoot at home and set it up as a webcam as I do a lot of online conferencing. Dude, that thing is sleeping. I was very impressed with the image quality of this lens. It is not as heavy as similar lenses (other lenses 17-50). The macro feature is a feature that many in the same category don't have. The video focus motor isn't as noisy as some of the expensive lenses I have. With continuous autofocus during video, you can hear a slight chirp as the camera tries to lock focus, but that's not a bad thing. The only downside is that focusing is a little slow, but not by much. I've been using the best Sony models lately, so maybe I'm comparing it to the fastest autofocus on the market since I've gotten used to it. All in all, for this price, you can't go wrong. If you are new to photography, skip the kit lens (18-55) that comes with your camera. Just get the body and then the lens. Even as a seasoned photographer, I was happy to have found this and played around with it. I'
