As this is a budget tablet, my expectations were not high. I wanted a 10-inch FHD IPS screen, 3GB of RAM, and Android 10 to use dark mode and integrate better with my other Android devices. In this regard, the tablet met all my expectations, the screen looked great and my content played perfectly. It even supports 60 fps playback. However, I was surprised by the problems with the software and user interface, which turned out to be more noticeable than I expected. There is a noticeable lag when scrolling and interacting with the screen, especially on the main screen and menus. Icons and boxes appear to move at a lower frame rate, resulting in slightly choppy motion. This tablet does not use vanilla Android and I found that minor differences in design and configuration settings meant that many settings were not properly transferred to my new Kingpad. The ability to tap to wake the screen has been a huge hit or miss and appears to depend on the tablet being moved first (useless if the screen turns off when on the stand). Several applications were also pre-installed on the tablet. While most were Google apps, some are optional (YouTube Music is a subscription-based service) or a legacy app where the newer Google app is readily available. The advertised blue light filter feature only has 3 settings: off, medium and high, with the highest setting being barely noticeable. None of these UX issues are really detrimental to a tablet that does everything I wanted, is otherwise very responsive and is great for reading and streaming. One of the speakers on my device was misconfigured so the sound came mostly from one side. I will be using this primarily with headphones but I have ordered a replacement and will let you know.
