Plug and Play for VMware (Esxi 6.7U3). The speed is as expected. I am connected to a Qnap switch with 2 10G ports and 8 2.5G ports. On 3 2.5Gb/s workstations I've never used anywhere near 10Gb/s let alone 20Gb/s, but I couldn't find a server NIC for 2.5/5Gb/s. The only thing to worry about is that the spring locking pins for the heatsink are plastic (cheap!) The card gets a bit warm so you'll need good airflow or a fan on the heatsink. I'm using a 40mm fan mounted on a heatsink that measures about 103 degrees Fahrenheit. OBTW: This is a (550) PCIe 3.0 x4 card (not x8 as described). The 540s are PCIe 2.0 x8.
