For this fur coat I was looking for something in between - something 30's-40's. This hiking coat is perfect for my needs (walking the dog, driving in and out of the building, etc.). It's just a bonus, it's very light and you can actually squeeze it into the included pouch (it still fits after a few tries). It's also nice to be on the softer side for a coat like this. I'm 5'4" about 39" 29" 39" tall and I tend to have trouble fitting my clothes around the hips and butt and have narrow shoulders. . I usually carry 8, sometimes 10 in my pants. This medium sized coat fits great as I plan to use it with the attached vest. If I were to take off the vest or zip up the extreme, I would probably go up a size for my bottom half. The outer zipper is single, not double, so you can't open the bottom zipper if you want to close the outer zipper. I have no problem fitting my arms or shoulders/chest, but I also don't plan on wearing bulky wool sweaters (I'll probably need a big one for that). Benefits: 1. Softer feel 2. The hood has weighted drawstring closures on each side so it's easy to tighten and stay in place3. very light 4. warm in mild winter weather5. flatters this style of coat - the stretchy material on the sides accentuates your waist particularly well6. metal zipper 7. the hood lies well8. Front pockets are lower and closer to the front and comfortable - hand in one leash in another etc. Cons 1. Pockets lined with fleece but only on the outside of the pocket, body side is the same smooth material as the coat and it doesn't hold you up warm if you forget your gloves2. would prefer fleece cuffs or sweatshirt sleeves3. Hood cannot be removed - would be nice to have that option4. I haven't tested it on anything heavy but not rainproof. All in all a great winter coat for mild weather.
